This sketch is about 9 month old and it shows my favorite tree. I knew this tree since childhood, it was more that 150 years old (which I am not). While painting this I already knew that it was slowly dying. Every year there were less leaves and in November they finally decided to cut it down and so it happened. An artist made a sculpture out of the stem. Even wikipedia knows this tree.I haven’t visited the place since then, I’m afraid it will break my heart. But at least I can show it to you because of Charlies fabulous #doodlewashaday!
Thank you for sharing your tree story. Beautiful painting.

I’m sad that the tree has died but glad that you did a lovely painting of it before it was gone!

So sad they had to cut down such a lovely old tree. You have given it a new life in your art.
